“Essential Oils are soooo pricey.”
Wrong.
Here’s the thing: I’m frugal. I am famously frugal–so much so that I used to appear on three different radio stations and on local tv news (and out across the country) every single week, teaching others how to be frugal too. I have taught literally millions of people how to save money. But I’m not just frugal–I’m broke. I quit a good job to be at home with my kids. That meant we took a 50% pay cut to do so. If I told you what we live on every month, most of you would laugh and not believe me. We pay our bills. We buy our food. And then…that’s it. We sit tight and wait until the next month. I am not complaining–our life is GOOD. We have great friends, our lives are saner, our family is closer, and we know the value of loving what you already have.
But when people tell me their budget is tight and that essential oils are just too expensive, well, I know firsthand how that thought works.
And I know that it is dead WRONG.
You see, I hear this kind of argument all the time. I hear it about as often as I hear from people that they can’t afford to eat healthy because it is just too expensive. (I dispel that myth and share tips in my 8 Ways to Eat Healthy on a Budget post.) But I also know from firsthand experience that investing in quality ingredients and oils means big savings down the line. When I first stumbled into essential oils, I wasn’t sure I believed much of the hype. Honestly, I still tend to be a bit of a skeptic. I am willing to try things, but my expectations are low. The crazy thing is that almost every time I pick up a bottle of essential oil, it WORKS!  At least a dozen times a day, instead of reaching for toxic chemical cleaning products or some form of medicine that would cost $$$ at the store, we now reach for essential oils. And they WORK–so much better than anything we have ever tried!
As I sat down to write this post I was going to share with you all of the ways that I save money by using Young Living essential oils. And as I sat down and made a list, I realized I was drawing up the outline for a book, not a blog post. Seriously, this would go on forever! So I decided to make a blog series out of it instead. Every year I participate in the Nester’s 31 Days blog challenge, so this year I am focusing on how to be Naturally Frugal with Essential Oils. Every day during October I will come back here and add a new post, sharing the things I have tried and learned over the past year with essential oils. Check back here every day for new posts. I also have several other resources, if you are wanting to learn more about essential oils. You can sign up for my free 14 day ecourse, over at the top right hand side of the page. Or join my Naturally Frugal Essential Oil Facebook group, where lots of people ask questions, share testimonies and things that we have tried.
Check back tomorrow for our first post!
